POINT OF VIEW SUPERVISORY COMMITTEE The unprecedented health crisis that erupted in March 2020 forced Ardian to react quickly and severely tested its resilience. Despite the many challenges, the com- pany adapted to the changing circumstances, protected its staff and portfolio companies, and safeguarded the long-term interests of its LPs. On behalf of the Supervi- sory Committee, I want to express our huge gratitude to all Ardian employees for their outstanding solidarity and determination in extremely difficult circumstances. In the early stages of the pandemic, the Supervisory Committee held frequent virtual meetings with the Executive Committee to support the company’s decision-making. Within days of the first lockdown, the company transitioned to remote working and provided equipment Patrick Thomas to enable everyone to work safely and securely from home. As a result, Chairman Ardian was able to continue its activities with minimal disruption, raising and of the Supervisory investing funds and reporting to its LPs as usual, even though they could no Committee longer meet them in person. Communication has been a critical ingredient of Ardian’s response to the crisis. The level of internal communication from the Executive Committee to employees has been pivotal and has done a lot to foster the collective solida- rity we have witnessed throughout the organization. Ardian also increased the frequency of its reporting to LPs and we know from the feedback we received from the Executive Committee that they were impressed and reassured. I have no doubt that Ardian was able to respond effectively to the crisis because the organization had fostered a mindset of readiness. For the past five years, the company has been developing and rehearsing its business continuity plan (BCP) and although in normal times this might have seemed a distraction from the company’s main tasks, in March 2020 it proved its worth. The global BCP team in Paris worked closely with the local teams around the world, enabling Ardian to respond calmly and operate almost as normal. Ardian is more united around the company’s values than it has ever been and is therefore fully prepared to face the future. 36 SUPERVISORY COMMITTEE
